Honoring Our Elders: A Spirit-Led Journey Through enditnow 2025

This year, the Women’s Ministries Department of the North Bahamas Conference embraced the enditnow 2025 initiative with a heartfelt mission: to remind our churches and communities of God’s call to “Honor Your Father and Your Mother.” With a special focus on elderly abuse, the effort unfolded as a moving story of compassion, awareness, and united action.

It started with a burden God placed on our hearts—to stand for the elderly among us who are too often overlooked or mistreated. From planning rooms to prayer circles, a shared desire grew: to raise awareness, to offer support, and to inspire families to reflect Christ’s love in how we treat our seniors.

That mission came alive on the streets of Freeport as members marched from the Freeport Seventh-day Adventist Church to the Errol Bodie Community Park. Along the way, messages of hope and conviction echoed through the crowd. Social Worker Mr. Godfrey Theoc reminded everyone of the blessings promised to those who honor their parents, while Chief Superintendent Wil Hart spoke openly about the realities of abuse—its forms, its signs, and its impact on the elderly.

Pastor Rochelle Lockhart and the Calvary Temple Women’s Ministries added their support, standing in solidarity with the cause. By the end of the rally, 200 grocery bags had been placed into the hands of residents throughout Pioneer’s Loop, each one a small reminder that love is active.

In Sandy Point, Abaco, the story continued. Community members marched and gathered to hear Assistant Chief Magistrate Ms. Ancella Evans, whose passionate message highlighted how deeply domestic relationships influence emotional, physical, spiritual, and intellectual well-being. Her words brought clarity and conviction to all who listened.

There, too, love was expressed in action as 150 grocery bags were shared with families in need.

Beyond the marches and rallies, Women’s Ministries extended support to the four elderly homes on Grand Bahama. Grocery and toiletry items were delivered with warm smiles and open hearts—simple gifts that spoke loudly: You are valued. You are not forgotten.

Across islands and congregations, the initiative created ripples of awareness and strengthened partnerships with social services, law enforcement, and local churches. More than 350 grocery bags were distributed between Grand Bahama and Abaco, leaving a meaningful impact on the communities we serve.

The 2025 enditnow initiative became more than an event—it became a testimony. A testimony of unity, of compassion, and of God’s people standing together to honor and protect the vulnerable among us.

We give God all the glory for the unity, dedication, and teamwork displayed across the North Bahamas Conference. Together, we stand committed to ensuring that the vulnerable, especially the elderly, are honored, protected, and loved.
